Volunteer in Dominican Republic and beyond with OASIS: A life-changing clinical experience
Discover how to join OASIS as a global volunteer and gain hands-on experience in speech therapy. Our program empowers both children and future professionals through cultural immersion and inclusive pracice.
Why volunteer speech therapy matters

Speech therapy is transformative—not only for children but for the people who help deliver it. At OASIS, our volunteer speech therapy program connects international students and professionals with children in the Dominican Republic who need urgent support in communication development.
This is more than a service trip—it’s a life-changing clinical and cultural exchange.
What to expect from the volunteer program

Every summer, OASIS hosts a 4-week clinical immersion for students and professionals in Santo Domingo and Dajabón. You’ll work directly with Dominican children aged 2 to 12, providing therapy sessions, assessments, and group interventions under professional supervision.
Program highlights:
- Hands-on speech and language therapy experience
- Clinical hours (supervised) for university credit or practicum
- Inclusive teamwork with bilingual professionals
- Workshops and reflection sessions
- Community events and school visits
Participants are expected to show initiative, respect for diversity, and openness to new challenges. Proficiency in Spanish is encouraged but not mandatory.

Cultural immersion and connection
Your time in the Dominican Republic goes far beyond therapy. Volunteers engage in meaningful cultural exchange through:
- Music, dance, and food exploration
- Historical visits to places like Zona Colonial
- Day trips to local beaches like Punta Cana and Bávaro
- Collaborative service projects with community members
You’ll leave with more than clinical skills—you’ll gain perspective, purpose, and lifelong connections.

We welcome applications from:
- Graduate students in Speech-Language Pathology, Education, or related fields
